Landslides

BEIJING (AP) — The Xinhua News Agency says at least 26 people are dead after a landslide in northern China. The agency said the flow of mud and rocks in Shanxi province was triggered by rain and caused the collapse of a mine warehouse.

CAIRO (AP) — The death toll from a devastating rock slide that buried a shanty town rose to 47 on Monday, a security official said as recovery efforts switched to high gear after days of delay. The death toll was expected to climb sharply as recovery efforts hastened, officials said.
