In a radio interview, the Archbishop of Canterbury and head of the Anglican Church urged listeners to "face up to the fact" that it is inevitable that Sharia Law (Islamic law) will be recognized in the United Kingdom. Moreover, Archbishop Rowan Williams supports official recognition of Sharia Law. He says that Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty." He argues that Sharia Law in the United Kingdom will help maintain social cohesion. He looks forward to matters such as martial disputes being handled by Sharia courts.

• JJ Commentary: This is absolutely insane. Sharia law specifically relegates non-Islamic believers into a second-class citizenship. It also relegates women back into the stone ages. For “Christian” leaders to promote Islamic law only serves to show how non-Christian they are - part of the great end-times "falling away" prophesied in the Bible (2Thessalonians 2:3)
  

Black Horse Rides?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The deficit for the current budget year will jump to about $250 billion, the Congressional Budget Office estimated Wednesday, citing the weakening economy. And that figure does not reflect at least $100 billion in additional red ink from an upcoming deficit-financed economic stimulus measure. "After three years of declining budget deficits, a slowing economy this year will contribute to an increase in the deficit," the CBO report said. Such a figure greatly exceeds the $163 billion in red ink registered last year. Including likely but still unapproved outlays for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the deficit for 2008 would total about $250 billion, CBO said.

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said the 2008 deficit would reach more than $350 billion once the costs of an upcoming economic stimulus measure under negotiation between the Bush administration and Congress are factored in. Unlike an increasing number of economists, CBO does not forecast a recession this year. It instead forecasts a growth rate of 1.7%, down from 2.2% real growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) last year.

• JJ Commentary: Thus, if there is a recession, the deficit will climb even more and increase the cumulative deficit to unprecedented levels. Playing God

LONDON (AP) — The international community faces a stark choice: outlaw human cloning or prepare for the creation of cloned humans, U.N. researchers said Saturday. Previous attempts to reach a binding worldwide treaty foundered over divisions on whether to outlaw all cloning or permit cloning of cells for research. The best solution may be to ban human cloning, but to allow countries to conduct strictly controlled therapeutic research, including stem cell research, according to the report from the Japan-based United Nations University Institute for Advanced Studies.

Almost all countries oppose human cloning and more than 50 nations have introduced laws banning it. But lack of binding global legislation gives scientists an opening to create human clones in countries where bans do not exist. "Failure to outlaw reproductive cloning means it is just a matter of time until cloned individuals share the planet," said Brendan Tobin, a human rights lawyer who co-authored the report.

End-Time Prophecies Ringing True

WASHINGTON, June 15 — A year after President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced a new strategy toward Iran, a behind-the-scenes debate has broken out within the administration over whether the approach has any hope of reining in Iran’s nuclear program, according to senior administration officials. The debate has pitted Ms. Rice and her deputies, who appear to be winning so far, against the few remaining hawks inside the administration, especially those in Vice President Dick Cheney’s office who, according to some people familiar with the discussions, are pressing for greater consideration of military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

In the year since Ms. Rice announced the new strategy for the United States to join forces with Europe, Russia and China to press Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment activities, Iran has installed more than a thousand centrifuges to enrich uranium. The International Atomic Energy Agency predicts that 8,000 or so could be spinning by the end of the year, if Iran surmounts its technical problems. Those hard numbers are at the core of the debate within the administration over whether Mr. Bush should warn Iran’s leaders that he will not allow them to get beyond some yet-undefined milestones, leaving the implication that a military strike on the country’s facilities is still an option.

• JJ Commentary: Negotiations with Iran are futile. They will lie, stall and cheat until they have their nuclear weapons. Ezekiel 38 prophesies that Rosh (Russia) and Persia (Iran) will conspire with other Arab nations against Israel. Russian and Iran have never been aligned before, but now Russia is providing the expertise to build Iran’s nuclear capabilities – and Russian/U.S. relations are deteriorating.
